A Stowmarket woman is aiming to scale Mount Snowdon later this month after being told she wouldn't climb again following a serious injury.

Farrah Clay, 33, is undertaking the challenge to raise funds for the East of England Ambulance Charity.

With a climb planned for this August Bank Holiday, Ms Clay will defy the odds following a fall when bouldering where she severely dislocated her ankle.

While being treated for her injuries, doctors said she wouldn't climb again.

Ms Clay suffered multiple breaks and dislocations to her right ankle and needed surgery to insert pins and screws.

After surgery, she was told that even hiking would be very uncomfortable.

Despite the challenges she now faces following the injuries, she is not letting them stand in the way of her love of climbing.

She has been training to build up endurance for the Mount Snowdon climb.

Ms Clay said: "When I had my injury, I was obviously in a lot of pain and extremely scared.

"The paramedics that came out to me were amazing which is why I'm raising money for the ambulance charity.

"They managed to realign my foot and make me feel safe and comfortable.

"They were calming, supportive and extremely professional and deserve recognition, praise, and funding to continue their outstanding work."

The East of England Ambulance Service Charity said they are truly inspired by Ms Clay's story, determination and strength, and wished her luck with her training and her final climb.

Ms Clay has launched a JustGiving page with all funds raised used to support volunteers, staff, patients and communities at the East of England Ambulance Service.
