Video footage has been released showing the beginning of a massive search for a Suffolk tech tycoon and several others after a luxury yacht capsized near Sicily.

Mike Lynch, of Wickham Market, is among six tourists missing after a luxury yacht sank in a tornado off the coast of Sicily, sources said.

His teenager daughter Hannah is also missing.

Dr Lynch, who founded Autonomy, has this summer been cleared of serious fraud charges in the United States.

Video footage of the storm in Sicily also shows how intense winds in the Palermo area when the boat capsized.

The footage of Sunday night shows plant pots being blown over and furniture being thrown around by the heavy winds.

Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency said: “They were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Fisherman Francesco Cefalu said he sailed from the shore to the scene after seeing a flare at about 4.30am, but by the time he arrived Bayesian had already sunk, with only items such as cushions and wood floating in the water.

He added: “I think they are inside, all the missing people.”
