The RNLI has said it is experiencing "unprecedented activity" off the coast of Felixstowe and Harwich at the peak of the summer holidays.
A statement from Harwich RNLI says it is experiencing high levels of demand in August, with multiple rescues off of the coast of Felixstowe and Harwich.
The charity that saves lives at sea has responded to 13 calls, ranging from broken-down motorboats and yachts to rescuing kayakers in distress.
Due to the busy shipping lanes, boats that have lost power have needed towing to safety.
The RNLI said: "This surge in incidents serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of regular maintenance for all watercraft.
"The RNLI urges boaters to ensure their vessels are in good working condition to prevent mechanical failures that can lead to dangerous situations at sea."
Harwich RNLI has reported one of its busiest starts Augusts on record.
A spokesman for the RNLI said: "We have a great crew of volunteers here at Harwich, each and every one of them has stepped up and provided their time when it has been possible over the last few weeks.
"Its not just the volunteers on the boats that make it possible to launch when help is needed; it's also the launch authorities, Launch Authorities who are the link to the Coastguard, and the shore crews who get the boats ready for service and help at the end of a callout."
