Drivers were facing long delays after traffic came to a standstill on the Orwell Bridge.
There were long queues forming in the eastbound carriageway of the A14 on Monday morning.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers were called to a broken down vehicle in the eastbound carriageway.
The vehicle has since been cleared and traffic is running smoothly.
Drivers are also being warned that lane closures will be in place on the Orwell Bridge this evening while National Highways carries out work.
National Highways says that these closures will be in place to allow it to carry out drainage works and to jet and clean the gullies.
