An incredible timelapse has captured a meteor shower over Suffolk.
The Perseid meteor shower, as well as the Northern Lights, lit up Suffolk skies on Sunday night.
Dr Nicholas Tucker captured the moment shooting stars travelled across the sky over Southwold.
The microbiologist at the University of Suffolk said: "I’d originally planned to just get some footage of the Perseid meteor shower, which is why I aimed the camera up at the sky instead of the horizon.
"I left it running and went to bed before the Aurora alert came through so wasn’t expecting to capture the northern lights."
Forecasters have said that a display of celestial fireworks is expected to light up the night skies again on Monday evening as the meteor shower will be visible again.
If the skies are clear the meteor shower should be visible across the UK from around sunset on Monday until the early hours of Tuesday.
The event is associated with the dusty debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 133 years.
