Fire crews are still at the scene of a fire at a Suffolk recycling centre nearly 21 hours after it started.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a bin on fire at Sackers recycling centre in Gipping Road just before 10am on yesterday.

At the height of the blaze 85 firefighters from Suffolk and Essex attended the fire with it being brought under control at around 3.15pm.

Four fire crews remain at the scene this morning as they check for hotspots and make the area safe.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been identified, crews will further investigate the origins of the blaze today.

Yesterday, Greater Anglia confirmed all lines were blocked due to what it described as "a fire near the railway suspected to involve gas cylinders between Needham Market and Ipswich".

The lines reopened and the services began operating as normal yesterday evening after the closures caused widespread disruption to services across the region.

Those unable to travel due to the disruption are able to have their ticket validated for travel on services today.
