A 46-year-old driver has been fined over £400 and handed a 12 month ban after being stopped with cocaine in his system.
Stephen Clayton, of Walnut Tree Meadow, in Stonham Aspal, was before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
Clayton pleaded guilty and was fined £408 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
The court heard he was stopped in January this year by police and a roadside salvia test indicated the presence of Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine breakdown product.
In mitigation, the court heard he pleaded guilty at first opportunity and had been completely compliant and extremely remorseful.
