A car dealership is running a contest to win a classic Jaguar in a bold move to support cancer patients.

Suffolk-based Bridge Classic Cars has partnered with Cancer Support Suffolk for a unique fundraising initiative.

By the end of August, one person will be blessed with a 1990 Jaguar XJ6 for only the price of a competition entry, simultaneously benefiting many in their fight against cancer.

The fundraiser was suggested by managing director of Bridge Classic Cars, Craig Ranson, whose own life has been affected by the disease.

He said: “Cancer is something which touches so many lives, and there are very few people who are lucky enough not to have been affected very closely by a battle with the disease."

He praised the work of Mark Murphy MBE, chief executive of Cancer Support Suffolk, adding, "My team and I are very impressed by what Mark and the team at Cancer Support Suffolk are doing."

The illustrious prize, a vintage Jaguar XJ6, is noted for its timeless design and high performance.

The charitable contest has caused a stir at Cancer Support Suffolk.

Mr Murphy said: “This is an amazing opportunity for us to raise awareness of the work we do supporting cancer patients and their families in Suffolk.

“I honestly can’t thank the Bridge Classic Cars team enough.

"We just need as many people as possible to show their generosity and buy a ticket.”

The fundraising event kicked off last Tuesday and the shiny Jaguar will be showcased at the Classic and Sports Cars by the Bridge event at Suffolk Food Hall on Bank Holiday Monday this month.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, August 27 in a live stream on Bridge Classic Cars' Facebook page.
