A man sexually assaulted a teenager during a Christmas party, it has been alleged.

Twenty-five-year-old John Booth allegedly followed the 15-year-old girl to a bedroom and said: “Let’s have some fun” before hugging her and rubbing his groin against her, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

He had also allegedly tried to kiss her and put his hand up her top, said Duncan O’Donnell, prosecuting.

The teenager told someone at the party what Booth had allegedly done and he was arrested in January 2020.

Booth, now aged 30, accepted he’d been at the party and told police that he’d seen the alleged victim upstairs and had tried to encourage her to go downstairs by putting the palm of his hand on her back.

He said his hand hadn’t touched her skin and he denied “grinding” his genitals against her, putting his hand up her top and slapping her bottom.

Booth, 30, of Notley Road, Lowestoft, has denied three offences of sexual activity with a child.

It is alleged that he rubbed his groin against her, put his hand under her top and slapped her bottom.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in December 2019.

The trial continues.
