A new health club set to open in Bury St Edmunds later this year has appointed a general manager.

David Lloyd Clubs, opening at Marham Park in winter 2024, has announced Kristen Westwood will be the general manager at the new site in the west Suffolk town.

Mr Westwood will oversee preparations for its opening and support its recruitment drive to fill 75 jobs in hospitality, fitness and spa roles.

He joins from a previous general manager role at David Lloyd Fulham, which recently reopened after a £7million investment.

Mr Westwood said: "I am delighted to have been appointed general manager for the new Club in Bury St Edmunds and I look forward to growing a thriving community of members.

"The new club will provide members with world-class facilities ranging from our state-of-the-art gym equipment to the relaxing Spa Retreat, and an extensive suite of Group Exercise classes, including BLAZE which is a personal favourite of mine.

"The facilities available at David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds provide something for everyone, no matter your age or ability, and I look forward to joining our new members on their health and wellbeing journey."

The club will include a 100-plus station gym and a range of Signature group exercise classes, including the family group classes, David Lloyd REBELS.

It will also have an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis and padel courts, expert tennis and swimming coaching for adults and children, a timetable packed with kids activities and sports coaching, and an indoor and outdoor spa retreat.

Memberships opened on June 1 and the centre is set to open in winter this year.

Mr Westwood added: "We are committed to supporting the local area and our ongoing recruitment drive ahead of the new club opening is a great opportunity for those looking to join a thriving, fast-paced fitness environment."
