Suffolk is known for its scenic towns and villages but here are some reasons why this village is well worth a visit.

Pettistree, near Wickham Market, is full of character and home to one of the UK's best pubs.

Here are some reasons why the village should be on your list of places to check out.

Garden centre

Pettistree is home to the wonderful Suffolk Plant Centre.

The garden centre has a varied range of plants, pots, garden furniture, plant care and garden tools.

Bedding plants, perennials and shrubs are all grown at the nursery in the village.

Award-winning pub

The Greyhound Inn is no stranger to national recognition and is a real draw for the village.

Last month the pub was named the best in the region by the Good Food Guide's Best Local

The gastropub was also recently named one of the best in the UK by Estrella Damm.

It reopened in November 2022 under the ownership of friends Cassidy Hughes and Will Orrock.

The Suffolk freehouse has a seasonal menu, wine list and local cask beer.

It is open from midday Wednesday through to Sunday serving dinner from 6pm.

Artisan bakery

A much-loved artisan bakery opened up its second site in the village earlier this year.

Harvey & Co which started in Rendlesham opened its latest bakery in the village.

Serving a range of items Harvey & Co is well worth a visit.

Bell ringing

People are able to try out bell ringing at the village church.

Practice night is Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm and beginners are welcome.

Village walks

One of the great things about Pettistree as with most villages around Suffolk is the network of footpaths.

There are a number of lovely walks around the village and surrounding areas that are all signposted.

It is also a great place to see a variety of birds including swifts, swallows and house martins.
