A man arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in a south Suffolk village has been released on bail. 

57-year-old Anita Rose was found injured and unconscious on a track road near Rectory Lane in Brantham by a member of the public on Wednesday, July 24. 

The mum-of-six left her home in Palfrey Heights at 5am to walk her dog Bruce around the nearby area.

She sustained serious head and brain injuries and was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital for further treatment where she died on Sunday, July 28. 

Ms Rose is believed to have been wearing a pink jacket immediately prior to the incident which police are still searching for as it may hold key information. 

It is described as waterproof in material and is from an outdoor clothing brand such as regatta.

On Wednesday, July 31, a week after the initial investigation was launched, a man aged his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder. 

The man, who is also from Brantham, was taken to Martlesham police station and police were granted extra hours for questioning. 

He has since been released on bail until Thursday, October 24, with conditions including not to enter Brantham and Manningtree. 

He was the third person to be arrested in connection with the incident after a man and woman from the Ipswich area were arrested and released on bail earlier in the investigation. 

The 45-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder then rearrested on suspicion of murder following Ms Rose's death. 

The 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods in connection with the incident.
