A dog walker was knocked unconscious after being attacked by a man at a Suffolk beauty spot.

The assault happened at about 7.15pm on Tuesday in Friars Meadow in Sudbury

The victim, a man aged in his 60s, was walking his dog and was leaving Friars Meadow when he was attacked by another man who punched him in the head several times.

He was knocked to the floor and lost consciousness for a while.

Members of the public carried out first aid on the man and took care of his dog.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

The suspect has been described as a white male, of skinny build, about 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark cropped hair, facial hair with black Jeans, a black T-shirt and tattoos on arms.

He had with him a Mastiff cross dog that had a silver, dark mottled coat, and infected or damaged eye.

Witness reports suggest that the suspect let his dog run freely in the meadow, scaring dog walkers and their pets alike.
