One of our readers told us that Iken Cliff, between Woodbridge and Aldeburgh, was their favourite place to enjoy a picnic in Suffolk because of its "serenity" and "beautiful nature".

Stretching along the River Alde between Snape Maltings and the village of Iken this is the perfect location for a picnic out in nature with a variety of bird species nesting within the Alde Mudflats Nature Reserve.

Another reader chose Clare Castle Country Park as their favourite spot - a location described as the county's most diverse park, with its 13th century stone castle, motte and bailey, various festivals, children's play area and numerous cafes.

It is certainly a great location for people looking to enjoy a peaceful walk, feed the ducks, and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery with a picnic.

Landguard Nature Reserve was also chosen as a favourite picnic spot.

The reserve celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, after decades of protecting rare birds and wildlife in the area.

The reserve stretches over 80 acres on the tip of Suffolk's coastline and there are several spots to enjoy a picnic including at the beach and in the grass and woodlands area.

Rendlesham Forest

Rendlesham Forest was also another reader favourite with its barbecue-friendly picnic area, range of stunning walking and cycling trails, adventure play areas and pony rides during school holidays.

The park also features an unusual UFO trail, taking walkers through some of the areas connected with the famously claimed alien sightings in December 1980.

Orford Nature Reserve

Also if you run out of food during your picnic treat, Orford was voted as being among best hidden food destinations in the country, so there's plenty of places to top up with snacks.
