A family-run east Suffolk homeware retailer is celebrating the 40th birthday of its first shop and the first anniversary of its second.
The Woodbridge Kitchen Company, known for its award-winning window displays, has reached its milestone anniversary as its newest addition, the Aldeburgh Kitchen Company, marks its first year.
Owners Kirsteen Torrance and Paul Venediger took over the Woodbridge Kitchen Company in 2015 and opened a second shop in Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast in July last year.
The company is hailing the expansion amid what it said were difficult financial pressures.
Mr Venediger said: "This is certainly a summer to celebrate.
"We have been running the business for nearly 10 years, the Woodbridge store turns 40 and our latest addition, Aldeburgh, turns one.
“We are immensely proud of everything we have achieved in this time, particularly the way we have adapted to sell online and expanded into new premises in a tough economic climate and following the major disruption of the pandemic."
Known for its unique window displays, the company has beaten off competition from Harrods, and taken home major awards thanks to Ms Torrance's creative flair.
Her creations have included biscuit chandeliers, cascading teapots, and indoor beaches.
She said: "Small business like us don't have the endless resources like our bigger competitors but for us, this is about creating exceptional experiences for our customers.
"We try to give our customers a special shopping experience and in this, our 40th year, we continue to go all out.”
Over the years, the company has built a reputation for offering a wide range of products.
Mr Venediger added: “Our customers have supported the business through the challenging times as well as moments of triumph and we hope they continue to stay with us for years to come.”
