The results of a post-mortem examination have been released as detectives continue to investigate the death of woman who was attacked in a south Suffolk village.

The Home Office post-mortem into the death of Anita Rose, who died after being attacked in Brantham, took place on Monday.

However, Suffolk police confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the results were unable to determine a cause of death. Further tests will be carried out.

“Our thoughts, as always, remain with Anita’s family at this incredibly difficult time."

A murder investigation into the death of mother-of-six Ms Rose is ongoing after she was attacked in Brantham on Wednesday, July 24.

The 57-year-old was found by a member of the public lying on a track road near to Rectory Lane, near to the sewage works and railway line, at about 6.25am.

Ms Rose had left her home at about 5am to take her dog, a Springer Spaniel named Bruce, for a walk.

She was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with a serious head injury before police confirmed on Sunday evening she had died that morning.

At about 1pm on Saturday, Suffolk police officers arrested a 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was subsequently re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 37-year-old woman, also from the Ipswich area, was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of handling stolen goods in connection with the incident.

The pair were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and have been released on bail with conditions to return on October 25.
