A tractor rally organised in west Suffolk raised an incredible £6,300 for cancer charities.
The event was arranged by Kevin Mayes and Richard Ford and saw 65 vehicles, including a selection of vintage lorries, participate from Whepstead, near Bury St Edmunds.
The extravaganza attracted about 500 people and the amount raised will benefit My WiSH Charity at West Suffolk Hospital and the Macmillan Cancer Trust.
Organiser Kevin Mayes, who is a farmer and digger hire provider, was inspired to arrange the event after receiving cancer treatment at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
Commenting on his personal connection to the cause, he said: “I was treated for cancer at the hospital and I thought that I would give them something back for the wonderful care I received."
Held on a glorious day in May, funds were raised primarily through bucket collections, while an additional £1,500 was garnered for Whepstead Village Hall from sales of hot dogs and burgers.
Top prizes, such as a day at Newmarket and a guided flight at Rattlesden Airfield, were auctioned off, indicating a successful outcome for the cause.
Speaking about the rally, Mr Mayes said: “It was a very successful day and we would not have done it without the help of many people in the village.
"Everyone was very generous."
He also hinted at the potential of it becoming an annual event, adding: “There were a number of comments asking us to make it an annual event, so we’re hoping to be back next year.”
The funds have been presented to My WiSH Charity, which supports West Suffolk Hospital, specifically the Macmillan Unit.
Sally Daniels, the fundraising manager for My WiSH, said: “We can’t thank Kevin, Richard and everyone involved in this fun day.
"They were so lucky with the weather and raised an absolutely amazing amount of money so they should be really proud of themselves.”
