A Suffolk estate is opening up nearly two hectares of pick-your-own sunflower fields after a record 2023.

Rougham Estate, off the A14 near Bury St Edmunds, will be launching its fourth annual sunflower festivities on Saturday, August 3.

Along with pick-you-own sunflowers, there are also photo opportunities at the free-to-attend event, which drew record crowds last year.

As well as enjoying the blooms, the 3,000-acre estate contains walks for visitors to enjoy Suffolk countryside, woodland, ancient meadows, oak-lined hedgerows, parkland and arable fields.

Owner George Agnew is leaving the estate in a trust on his death so that it can continue to be enjoyed by the public.

Flowers start at £2 per stem, with the estate lending secateurs for a small refundable deposit.

There is also a wildflower bed with bunches of wildflowers for sale.

The sunflower meadow will be open every day from Saturday, August 3, for three weeks from 9am to 5pm.

There is free admission and parking. Visitors can take in nature and bring a picnic or enjoy food and refreshments served at the field from Wrights and Chestnut Trailers including an ice cream van.

Activities for children include climbing the big bale pyramid, a maze, a bug hunt challenge and playing in the sandpits.
