Organisers of a Suffolk carnival have said "the whole event went better than we had hoped" as crowds flocked to the seaside to enjoy the festivities in warm, sunny weather.

Felixstowe Carnival took place over the weekend of July 26-28 based on the theme of Lights, Camera, Action and began with a performance by the band Swing Machine on the Friday night.

There was also a Fun Fair at Felixstowe CarnivalThere was also a Fun Fair at Felixstowe Carnival (Image: Felixstowe Carnival) On Saturday, the main procession took place with floats, majorettes and marching bands following a route along Beatrice Avenue, Hamilton Road, Orwell Road, Garrison Lane, Undercliff Road West and Sea Road.

Finally, the event was capped off with a firework display on the seafront on Sunday.

The whole weekend was better than we had hoped. There were more people than we anticipated, so that was fantastic. The atmosphere was amazing.

"It was difficult to quantify how many people were there, but we saw more people than last year."

There was also live music, with the main stage on Saturday featuring performances by Roma, Funky Fusion, Shane & The Korrados, Colchester City Pipe Band, All Glammed Up, George Michael Way and the Counterfeit Brits.

Children's activities included a disco and dance and a Punch & Judy show, along with a Fun Fair in the Pier bight car park.
