A new dog day care facility for up to 50 pets in a village outside of Ipswich has been given the go-ahead - despite concerns about noise, traffic and parking.

Mid Suffolk District Council has approved applicant Colin Frost's plans to convert a storage warehouse into the dog day care unit at Bramford Park, in Tye Lane in Bramford.

Called Precious Paws (Suffolk), the business will employ seven people and will operate from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

However, the application attracted concerns about the impact of noise and traffic.

In a letter to the council, one nearby resident said: "I am 88 years old and in poor health. I have a condition known as 'porphyria' which can be aggravated by stress and I cannot imagine anything more stressful than having to listen to a number of dogs barking all day and when they arrive and depart."

The resident, who was a dog lover, also expressed concerns about traffic and found there were not many places to avoid cars in the lane, fearing that up to 50 cars dropping off and picking up dogs could create "chaos".

Bramford Parish Council also objected to the plans on the basis of the additional vehicles using the lane, as well as concerns around parking on the site, flooding, visibility at the entrance and exit to the site, pollution and waste and noise.

In a letter, the council said: "Whilst Bramford Parish Council supports its local businesses and encourages growth and success, we challenge the suitability of this facility's location and the impact it has on the users of Tye Lane, the B1113 and the local residents."
