Works to repair an embankment which collapsed during Storm Babet are due to start later this month.
Traffic lights have been in place along Aspall Road in Debenham since the end of last year after the side of the road gave way, causing safety concerns.
Suffolk Highways said the embankment collapsed by between four and five metres.
Repair work is due to begin on Tuesday, July 30, the authority has confirmed.
The road will be shut for the duration of the works.
A spokesman for Suffolk Highways said: "We are currently aiming to undertake all works within a four-week period, giving a target completion date of Friday, August 23.
"However, due to the complexity of the project and possibility that additional works may be uncovered during the course of carrying them out, it has been acknowledged that a further week may be required in order to finish the works fully, hence us providing Friday, August 30 as an alternative date for completion."
Diversions will be in place while works are carried out.
