An appeal has been launched to try and find 100 prom outfits to give care leavers memories to last a life time this summer.

Many supported by the Suffolk County Council leaving care team have never been to such an event.

The team is in a race against the clock to secure 100 outfits ahead of their fittings in two weeks time.

The attendees will be aged between 16 to 25 with the team appealing for help to pull off the fantastic event which will be the first ever summer ball for former children in care.

Items the team are looking for range from shoes, bags, hair accessories and belts as well as dresses and suits.

A spokesperson for the leaving care team said: "Many of our care leavers 16-25 have never had prom, have never had a supportive family to buy pretty outfits for them and make these special moments possible.

"This is a memory to last a life time for over 100 of our young people , so please help us make this happen.

"The best part of this event, is during the outfit fittings, turning up in tracksuits, hoods up, hiding, and leaving beaming with joy, feeling on top of the world confidence which they haven’t felt before, knowing they are special and we, as collective corporate parents across Suffolk are making the effort to help them have this moment."

If you wish to make a donation, items can be dropped off to Constantine house, Ipswich, IP12DH and asking for Roxanne in leaving care.

Financial donations can also be made towards the venue hire, dresses, suits, DJ, transport on the care team's Just Giving page.
