A jukebox musical based on a hit film from the 1980s in coming to Ipswich. 

An Officer and a Gentleman will be at the Ipswich Regent Theatre from Tuesday, September 10 until Saturday, September 14. 

The show is based off the 1982 film starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger and showcases the emotional journey of young officer Zack Mayo and Paula Pokrifki, whose fiery spirit matches his own. 

Their encounters ignite a spark that transcends boundaries and awakens a passionate love that defies all odds.

The musical is set to a smash-hit soundtrack featuring well-known songs by Madonna, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Blondie and many more including the award-winning Up Where We Belong which was also on the film's soundtrack.

Previously speaking about the tour, director Nikolai Foster said: "We are proud to be working alongside the film's creator Douglas Day Stewart, producer Jamie Wilson, Sharleen Cooper Cohen and an incredible creative team to present this beautiful and inspiring story.

"We are excited to share some iconic 80s songs and this moving story with audiences."

Luke Baker is playing Zack while the role of Paula will be played by Georgia Lennon. 

Luke has appeared in many hit musicals across the UK and has also appeared in TV show Andor on Disney Plus and the Steven Spielberg series Masters of the Air which has strong connections to Suffolk

Georgia has previously appeared in the UK tour of The Osmonds and Beauty at the Beast at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

X Factor star Melanie Masson was cast as Esther Pokrifki, the mother of leading lady Paula. 

The singer made it to the live shows of the ITV competition show in 2012 but was sent home during week two.
