Why Long Melford in is one of the most stylish UK places

More than 5,000 people were polled by décor store Furniturebox on the best places to live in the country based on style. 

The towns and villages were ranked based on the beauty of the buildings, the scenery, how 'Instagrammable' the area is and the popularity with filmmakers and artists. 

Long Melford, a village near Sudbury, was chosen as the 11th most stylish in the UK.

The village has often been described as one of the prettiest villages in the county and last year was named one of the best places to live. 

Its long high street is lined with historic buildings and independent business including bakeries, cafes and antique shops. 

The award winning Melford Antiques, Interiors & Lifestyle Centre can be found in the Grade II*listed Old Maltings in Hall Street.

Long Melford is also an up-and-coming foodie destination, making a great place for people wanting to get that perfect Instagram food picture. 

The busy Taste of East Anglia Food and Drink Festival was recently held at the nearby Kentwell Hall, an historic Tudor venue, where various chefs gave cooking demonstrations while visitors tried food and drink the local area had to offer.

Fans of BBC television show Lovejoy will recognise Long Melford as the setting for the 1980s and '90s series.

The village has also been featured on the big screen in films like Witchfinder General and The Wind in the Willows, both of which were partially shot in Long Melford. 

Kentwell Hall was also digitally added into the film The Chronicles of Narnia.
