My friend and I took a trip to Bedford Lodge in Newmarket to indulge in some R&R at one of their spa days.

I have not been to this spa before so it was very exciting to try somewhere new and see what they had to offer.

With a five bubble rating this luxury retreat, which is just a stone's throw away from Newmarket race course, certainly showed a lot of promise.

On arrival, we were greeted by a wonderful Victorian building surrounded by beautiful gardens, which certainly gave the spa a very grand feel to it.

We were given a short tour of the facilities which included the hydrotherapy pool, steam room and sauna, experimental showers, a relaxation lounge area, an outdoor rooftop hot tub and the treatment rooms.

The hydrotherapy pool had a few different water experience areas within it such as two waterfall showers, a seating area with bubble jets and what I could only describe as a bubble throne.

This was a lovely area situated in a beautifully light and airy room with an elevated ceiling. Next to the pool was some heated seating where you can sit and relax or read a book. After this we went to the rooftop to try out the hot tub.

It wasn’t the warmest of days, therefore the outdoor hot tub was the perfect way to warm us up. There was another outdoor seating area here which you can enjoy during nicer weather.

We enjoyed a one course lunch and a drink in the spa lounge. The menu consisted of a breakfast menu and a light lunch menu.

We opted for the crispy duck poke bowl with noodles and vegetables and a raspberry lemonade.

This was the perfect size portion with plenty of crispy duck and it also came with a hoi sin and lime dressing.

I always find you don’t want a heavy lunch when you’re at a spa, and I think the menu reflects that with a variety of tasty light bites.

Other options included focaccia sandwiches and a sharing platter for two and they also had a selection of cakes if like a sweet treat.

After lunch I enjoyed a 60 minute ESPA active nutrients glow facial which left me feeling glowing and my skin silky soft.

The ESPA products smelt divine and added another touch of luxury and brought the natural glow out of my skin.

The spa offered a few different facials as well as a large variety of massages including hot stone massages and other body treatments to cater for different areas of the body, flotation and rasul experiences, as well as manicures and pedicures.

The range of the treatments on offer was impressive, I was spoilt for choice when it came to choosing a treatment.

The price of the treatments vary depending on what you are looking for, the Espa active nutrients glow facial was £106 which is more on the expensive side but you can experience other treatment options such as the flotation experience from £45 or the Rasul experience at £55.

After one last dip in the pool we were well and truly relaxed. In the changing rooms the ESPA theme continued, they had body lotion, micellar cleanser, shampoo, conditioner and soap available to use which I thought was a nice touch.

Overall we both had a fantastic day at Bedford Lodge Spa. If you are looking for a luxurious spa day then this place will not disappoint.
