A temporary road closure that was put in place in an east Suffolk town is to be extended by another week.
Garrison Lane in Felixstowe has been closed from Monday, June 10 and it was expected to reopen this week.
However, East Suffolk Council has confirmed that the road will be closed for another seven days.
While the road is closed, Kier Construction is carrying out essential infrastructure work for the Deben Fields development on the site of the old Deben High School.
A spokesman for East Suffolk Council said: "The planned utilities and services connections have progressed well during the closure, with all mains services required for the development now connected into the utilities system and available at the development entrance on Garrison Lane.
"Construction of a new manhole and connection to the Anglian Water drainage network has also begun, however there have been some difficulties with this element which have slowed Kier’s planned progress.
"The one-week extension to the road closure, approved by Suffolk Highways, will ensure that the drainage works are fully completed and the Garrison Lane road construction and markings are safely re-instated prior to the route being fully re-opened to traffic."
A signed diversion route will be in place while the road is closed.
Pedestrian access continues to be maintained on the opposite footway to location of the works.
