Mark Murphy seems to have a touch of the Green Eyed Monster about him, an EADT reader writes.

I’m afraid he has the whole objection to the parking of the motor homes along Undercliff Road East, Felixstowe, wrong.

We object to these motorhome owners parking their huge machines for free and staying, not just overnight but leaving them there thoughout the winter and summer for weeks at a time.

Some of these vans are 10 metres long and therefore take up the parking spaces for three cars.

They park both sides of a busy through road, leaving a single lane for not only cars but refuse-lorries, ambulances and other big vehicles.

There is an accident waiting to happen if a small child runs off the beach or the promenade.

You couldn't see them behind these big vans until it is too late.

We are not talking about little camper-vans who come down for the day.

We are talking about people who can easily afford to pay to park in a recognised parking site but choose not to because they can park here for nothing and stop beach hut owners and others from enjoying the beaches.

The beach hut owners pay for the privilege of having a beach hut but often there is nowhere to park and they can’t sleep in their beach huts.

We are not NIMBYs as Mr Murphy rudely calls us.

Our homes are small and probably cost less than his.

We just happen to live the other end of Felixstowe to him so it doesn’t affect him or the people who live near him because they don’t need to worry about it. They have their beach there so naturally they are not bothered about what goes on at this end.

If Mr Murphy wants to bring his VW camper van to have dinner at the Fludyers, no one is complaining about that.

He is spending money in the local community. But these motor home owners don’t spend money in the town. They buy all they need for their stay before they come.

You don’t see them carrying any bags back from the town. They park their chairs and tables on the pavement and enjoy the view. Why wouldn’t they when they don’t have to pay?

They park their motor homes for weeks on end for free throughout the winter and summer. Why wouldn't you if you can park it for free?

Why don’t they park them in their own drives?

Probably because they are too big and take up all their driveway.

Unfortunately this situation has to be regulated or it all gets out of hand.

We just want justice for everyone.

This happened last year. A man decided to light a BBQ at the back of his motorhome right next to a van that was parked.

How can this be allowed to happen?

I hope we are given the coverage that Mr Murphy has been privileged to have as we are fed up with his sniping at us ordinary citizens.
