The ongoing spring Covid-19 vaccination drive in Suffolk and north east Essex is winding down.

Latest statistics indicate that 96,135 individuals have already been inoculated to protect against the ongoing health threat.

The campaign targets elderly people who are 75 or older, care home residents, and those with weakened immunity.

The stark reality is that Covid-19 remains active in the community with nine cases at the West Suffolk Hospital and 35 in Colchester and Ipswich hospitals.

The health authorities are urging remaining eligible individuals to take the protective jab by June 30.

Walk-in appointments are available in nearly 30 clinics listed on sneevaccine.org.uk, while booked appointments can be arranged via nhs.uk, the NHS app, or GP practices.

Lucy Archer, who heads the local Covid-19 vaccination programme under the NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, said: “COVID is still very much with us, it hasn’t gone away.

“There are still many walk-in clinics operating across the area, make a booked appointment or speak to a healthcare professional at your GP practice or pharmacy.”
