A sailing and canoeing association recently enjoyed successful conditions for their annual regatta.
The St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association (SESCA), based at Lackford Lakes, near Bury St Edmunds, held their 11th Antigua Sailing Day Regatta on Sunday.
Initially a one-off event, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority's support has turned it into the club’s highlight event.
The club's Commodore, Norman Savage, proposed an interesting figure-of-eight course that used the entire lake, resulting in 21 entries, and close-quarters racing.
Alan Wright, racing his newly owned Solo, used the unpredictable breeze to gain two firsts and a second, securing the overall prize.
He was gifted an English Harbour Rum by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, which was presented by Commodore Savage.
Mike Steele followed in his Laser, earning second overall with two seconds and a third.
The last race was won by Sam Parrett and his youngest son, Gus, who sailed a Firefly, clinching third overall.
The first lady helm and fourth overall was secured by Debs Steele in her Topper while the first junior spot was claimed by Penny Davis.
