A charity football match has assisted in raising £460 for a cancer unit at West Suffolk Hospital.
The sporting fundraiser, taking place in Euston Park, saw Thetford Bulldogs FC's coaches compete against the under-18s team.
The event, resulting in a win for the youngsters 4-3 on penalties, was played in honour of Peter Turner, the late husband of Kirsty Turner, a secretary, manager, and player of the club.
Mrs Turner, 49, said her husband died last year after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
The proceeds emerged from game attendees, each contributing £10, while the football club matched the total £230 donations.
The funds were directed to the My WiSH Charity and specifically, the Macmillan Unit at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, where Mr Turner received treatment.
Mrs Turner appreciated the effort of the hospital staff, she said: “The hospital staff were really good to Peter who had to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy throughout his illness.”
Sally Daniels, fundraising manager for My WiSH, expressed gratitude to Mrs Turner and Thetford Bulldogs for their ongoing support.
