A Suffolk town has been named the county's focal point for Armed Forces Day this year.

Haverhill will host a series of events, including a convoy of military vehicles that will embark from Haverhill Arts Centre at 11am on June 29, ending at Market Square by 11.20am.

Britain's Got Talent stars, The Big Sing, and Glenmoristan Pipe Band are among the entertainers.

Lt Col Anthony Fairbanks Weston will officially inaugurate the festivities at noon before raising the flag at 1pm.

Cllr Tony Brown said: Armed Forces Day has always been a proud day for Haverhill, and this year the town will once again pay its respects to our armed forces and veterans with stalls, live entertainment, and a military vehicle convoy.

Suffolk Armed Forces Commissioner, Lee Holloway, added: “Armed Forces Day provides us with a way to respectfully celebrate and express our appreciation to our serving troops, veterans and their families.

“This year Haverhill will be the lead town to represent Suffolk and we hope you will join us to show your gratitude with a day of fun events and activities."
