The Deben Fields development is a 61-home eco-friendly housing project which is being built on the site of the old Deben High School.
Drivers have been warned of delays as a 2.3km diversion route will be in place through the town along the A1021 Orwell Road, Leopold Road, Crescent Road and Grove Road during the closure and access to the road has been maintained for residents only.
