A pub near Mildenhall has closed its doors for the final time, the company behind it has confirmed.
Pub giant Greene King has confirmed The Bird in Hand in The Street, Beck Row, just a stone's throw from the RAF Mildenhall base, has closed.
A spokesperson for Greene King said: “It has been a difficult decision to close The Bird in Hand and we would like to thank all our customers, both local and from further afield, who have visited over the years.
"Our focus now is on supporting our team members at the pub. While we know the closure is disappointing for many customers, we hope to welcome them into our other pubs in the area soon."
Described by the Campaign for Real Ale as a 1930s pub with a 57-room motel, the pub was popular with visitors - with a four-star average on TripAdvisor.
The Bird in Hand sold a range of food and drinks with advertising for its "delicious pub grub" posted on the social media page just two days ago.
