A Newmarket betting shop could be transformed into an American diner if an application before a council is given the green light.
Applicant Gokul Swami, who owns the nightclub and gentlemen's club next to the property, has submitted a prior approval application to West Suffolk District Council for the change of use of 107 High Street.
A letter to the council said there are 'no plans' to build flats but requested a change of use to allow the opening of an American-style restaurant.
It reads: "We essentially want to create an American Diner experience serving American styles of food. Typically, Philly style steak sandwiches/wraps, fries, hotdogs, chicken wings, jacket potatoes, various salads, soft drinks, cakes and ice creams etc."
There would be seating inside to accommodate around 15 to 20 customers, as well as take away options.
The letter continues: "The plan is to serve throughout the day from early lunch until late evening, say 11am to 11pm for seven days a week, for example.
"We also plan to apply for a late night refreshment licence to cater for late comers on a Friday and Saturday night."
The prior approval application is with West Suffolk Council for consideration.
