Work due to start on Bellway 139 homes in Trimley St Martin

Bellway Homes (Essex) was given the go-ahead to build on fields off High Road, on the edge of Trimley St Mary and Trimley St Martin near Felixstowe, in March.

The developer has confirmed work on the scheme, named Kingsfleet Park, is due to begin at the end of June.

Jenny Walker, sales director for Bellway Essex, said: “Kingsfleet Park will bring enormous benefits to the area both in terms of the high-quality homes we are building here, and the investment in the area which will help in a variety of ways, especially in education and transport.

“We are providing the land for a new school to be built and this all helps keep the village sustainable and thriving.

“And sustainability runs through the whole development, with community green open space, the planting of more than 100 new trees and environmentally friendly measures built into each home."

A primary school and pre-school are also included in the development. 

The development will consist of 86 two to four-bedroom homes, 46 affordable properties and seven self-build homes.

The housebuilder has agreed to pay £786,000 towards local infrastructure as part of the planning agreement and a further £500,000 through the Community Infrastructure Levy scheme.

Homes are expected to be available to reserve from August.

Several concerns had been raised prior to the development being given the go-ahead. 

A separate application for the primary school would be made by county council, an officer's report said. 

It said: "It is anticipated that the county council will be progressing the school design process very soon and a reserved matters application for the school will also be available for consideration soon.

“The school land will be made available to the county council at no cost prior to the occupation of 50 dwellings."
