Festivities are planned to celebrate a railway line's 175th anniversary, with attractions scheduled over an entire weekend.

The events will be centred at the East Anglian Railway Museum in Chappel and Wakes Colne.

The weekend of June 29 and 30 will include a display by Wladyslaw Mirecki, featuring 65 watercolour paintings of the impressive Chappel viaduct.

Alongside steam and Diesel locomotives will be antique displays like a vintage steam organ and Shire Horses.

Sunday, June 30 is the peak celebration date, with attractions like the museum’s miniature railway, the Lamport Restoration Shed and the Viaduct Pub will make it a remarkable day.

Other events outside the Museum premises will include Gainsborough’s House and a Victorian-corralted Music Hall train on Saturday night, promoting a nostalgic voyage from Marks Tey to Sudbury.

This momentous celebration aims to cherish the railway’s rich history dating back to its first train journey on July 2, 1849.
