A bowls club in Great Blakenham near Ipswich has been granted planning permission for a new pavilion.
An existing portacabin at Gipping Valley Bowls Club, on Bramford Road, will be removed and a pavilion roughly three times the size will be built.
Mid Suffolk Planning Committee unanimously approved the plans, which feature a 164 square metre space made up of a club room, hot beverages area, and external veranda.
Ward member Councillor Adrienne Marriott said in a statement: “I am in favour of this approval. The bowls club is a little gem which should be more widely available to residents of Great Blakenham and nearby villages.”
The bowls club is more than 40 years old and also hosts other events like the local sewing group, birthday parties, and lunch clubs.
The application was granted with conditions including a three-year time frame to build the pavilion, submitting a construction management plan, and biodiversity enhancement measures.
