Burglaries have hit an all-time low in Suffolk over the past year with police pointing to security measures such as CCTV, doorbell cameras and alarms.

Recent data by Churchill Support Services shows that Suffolk currently has the fourth lowest burglary incidents out of any of the UK's police force areas.

This data shows that Suffolk has just 2.4 burglaries per 1,000 people, significantly lower than the national average which is 3.9.

The number of burglaries between 2023 and 2024 also decreased by 9%.

“However, we appreciate that data tells only part of the story and that burglary has a devastating impact on all victims. This is why we do everything we can to identify and prosecute those criminals responsible.

“Crime prevention is also important and I want to acknowledge the part Suffolk residents play in investing in security measures such as CCTV, doorbell cameras and alarms.

"I would also urge everyone to deter opportunist thieves by ensuring doors and windows are locked and valuables kept out of sight in vehicles.

“Suffolk remains one of the safest counties in the UK but if you see a crime of burglary in action please contact us.”
