A decision on plans for a controversial 150-home development in Felixstowe, which were first submitted in 2021, has been deferred.
In an East Suffolk Council planning committee meeting on Tuesday, those present voted to defer a decision on land north of Conway Close and Swallow Close in Felixstowe to become 150 homes.
Plans first submitted in 2021 by Generator Optima Group, highlighted the new homes to be built on the 9.4-acre farmland site opposite where 196 homes were built back in 2019.
These plans were met with objections from both members of the public and also consultees.
A total of 40 objections were received from the public, with six consultees commenting on the plans.
Concerns cited included extra traffic, infrastructure not being able to cope and the water and surface drainage capacity.
East Suffolk Council decided to defer the decision after a vote had been taken with an outcome of two for the proposal recommendation of granting it the green light, and four against.
The reason for deferral was to allow a third party to look over the statement from Suffolk Highways which was given to the council on Friday, May 24.
This consultation with Suffolk Highways sets out a number of conditions that need to be followed should the plans go ahead.
These relate to visibility, where there is not allowed to be any obstruction constructed, planted or permitted to grow over 0.6 metres high and access, details of which need to be submitted and approved prior to anything happening to the site.
Details relating to estate roads and footpaths need to be submitted and approved prior to work, as well as parking provision for cars, motorcycles and bikes.
East Suffolk Council's planning committee south will reconvene to discuss the plans in the future and potentially either grant of refuse the application.
