A restaurant which was forced to close its doors in the aftermath of Storm Babet has announced its reopening date. 

On October 26 of last year, The Sail Loft in Southwold announced a temporary closure due to flooding after Storm Babet battered the county. 

An announcement on the business' Instagram said: "Dear Sail Loft customers, due to flooding after the recent storms The Sail Loft has been forced to temporarily close its doors for the foreseeable future."

Owner Jonathan Nicholson hoped the restaurant would be open by the end of April or the start of May.

The restaurant has announced it is reopening on Friday, May 17 after a nearly seven-month closure.

Mr Nicholson said: "At last, we are reopening after months of closure due to flooding caused by Storm Babet.

"We now have fully revamped the restaurant and kitchen with storm resilience in place for any future crazy weather. 

"We are also so excited to get back to what we love doing and look forward to seeing all our regulars back - and newcomers of course."
