A historic, Grade II* former manor house set in about 10 acres of land in Grundisburgh, near Woodbridge, is up for sale at a guide price of £1.5 million.
Basts is said to have been built by Thomas Wall in about 1510 on the site of an earlier house and manor.
The double jettied timber-frame property reputedly gets its name from William Bast, who was prior of Woodbridge from 1345 to 1350, and whose family held land and manors adjacent to Grundisburgh from the early 14th century.

Today, the Suffolk Pink property retains many period features, such as inglenook fireplaces, exposed timber frame, mullion leaded windows, oak panelling and parquet flooring.
On the ground floor of the three-storey home, which is in need of some updating in certain areas, there's a farmhouse kitchen/breakfast room, drawing room, dining room, library/study and utility/boot room.
There’s a further reception room – a sitting room – on the first floor, where you can enjoy views of the grounds, as well as five bedrooms and two bathrooms. A sixth bedroom is located on the second floor, and there are four unconverted attic rooms.
