Firefighters believe that a forest fire could have been started by a discarded cigarette.
Crews were called to the blaze in Santon Downham Woods in Thetford Forest, on the Norfolk-Suffolk border, at about 1.30pm on Saturday.
Photographs and videos posted on social media showed the fire spreading quickly through the woodlands.
A spokesman for Brandon Fire Station said on arrival crews found a large area of the forest well alight.
Crews used a hose reel and beaters to get the blaze under control.
On social media, Brandon Fire Station said the fire is believed to have started by a discarded cigarette.
