McDonald's will open June 19 at Martlesham Heath Retail Park

A spokesperson for the global chain has confirmed the start date as June 19.

In April the brand's famous golden arches logo had been installed on the side of its new premises in Anson Road, part of Martlesham Heath Retail Park.

The restaurant is set to open 24 hours a day in the former home of Evans Cycles, despite objections from Suffolk Police and Martlesham Parish Council about noise pollution, rubbish and unruly behaviour at night when the area is normally quiet.

However, McDonald's has agreed to a number of conditions to address these concerns, including improvements to CCTV cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition and security arrangements.

Following these concessions, two of the objectors, including the police, withdrew their opposition to the plans.

In its licensing application, McDonald's said: "This restaurant understands that in extending our opening hours we have a duty to the local community and that we continue to protect our staff and customers from danger and harm.

The premises is set to provide late night refreshment indoors and outdoors from 11pm to 5am, Monday to Sunday.

The restaurant is set to include a dining room with space for 150 diners, a counter for 'drive to' services, a kitchen, bathrooms, a store room with a chiller and freezer, a crew room, office, plant space and a service corridor.
