Sweeney's Pizza and Grill leaves The Trowel and Hammer

Sweeney's Pizza and Grill was based at The Trowel & Hammer,in Cotton, near Stowmarket.

The businesses started working together when the pub reopened on Saturday, March 23.

Following the business's move to the Trowel and Hammer this year, owner Craig Sweeney says the business is working on some "exciting new projects".

Sweeney's announced the news on a social media post.

The post read: "As you will be aware Sweeney's Pizza and Grill and The Trowel and Hammer have been working successfully together over our first month or so of trading."

"Due to some exciting new projects we have now decided to continue trading separately and Sweeney's Pizza and Grill will no longer be operating from the Trowel and Hammer."

Mr Sweeney initially started his pizza business with an independent pizza van which travelled around the country but he eventually settled his business in Bury St Edmunds.

Sweeney's Pizza and Grill have confirmed that any deposits paid to them for service at the pub will be refunded.

The Trowel and Hammer say they will bring food service in-house and they were unable to serve food last night. 

The pub said, "The Trowel and Hammer will continue to offer food however please bear with us with us while we get set up. Please do contact the pub if you have any queries."

As part of the renovation works to reopen the pub, a new roof, new heating, new electrical systems, new toilets and fireplaces and beams were installed.

Freddy Vaudrey bought the pub to save it from being turned into houses and during the works reinstated the drinking area and transformed the garden area.
