There's nothing better than the feel of warm sand underneath your feet and the sound of waves crashing against the shore.
With this bank holiday weekend promising warm temperatures and sunshine, we've created a list of the best sandy beaches in Suffolk.
Southwold Pier beach
Southwold's beach is regularly featured in lists naming it as among the best in the country.
It has also picked up the prestigious Blue Flag award for the quality of the beach, the way it is managed and the facilities it offers to visitors.
The beach is a mix of sand and shingle and has plenty of crafty shops, cafes and locally brewed beer nearby.
Covehithe beach
Covehithe beach was commended by The Sunday Times earlier this year in an article he wrote about under-the-radar beaches.
This beach is also a combination of sand and shingle but it has a huge stretch of sand where visitors can enjoy walks along the beach during low tide.
The medieval church of St Andrew and quaint cottages were also noted as local attractions.
Lowestoft South beach
Last year Lowestoft was named as one of the country's best coastal towns by Millets.
The clothing retailer looked at water quality, sea temperature, visitor reviews and parking costs to determine the best spots.
The South beach at Lowestoft is sandy and includes a pier, a wildlife park, theme park, museums and a theatre.
The beach is currently undergoing several improvements including a new two-story café and restaurant complex.
Kessingland beach
While Kessingland is more of a shingle beach than a sandy beach, it has patches of sand and notably it is much quieter than its neighbouring beach of Southwold.
The north Suffolk beach also allows dogs all through the year.
If you're looking for a nice private stroll along the beach this bank holiday weekend then Kessingland could be perfect.
Walberswick beach
Another part-sandy part-shingle beach, Walberswick is often referred to as a hidden gem of Suffolk.
The village is also home to one of the best pubs in the country.
The beach was included in a list of the best beaches put together by the luxury travel magazine Conde Nast and the Telegraph.
Conde Nast said "Walberswick’s long, grassy dune-backed beach is much quieter and wilder-feeling than neighbouring Southwold across the river."
