Part of the A14 was closed in both directions following a serious collision.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the westbound carriage was closed at Haughley, near Stowmarket, on Thursday morning.
Shortly after the eastbound carriage was closed to facilitate emergency services, but it later reopened.
The eastbound carriageway is now also closed to facilitate emergency services. Officers have managed to get some traffic flowing westbound via the slip roads. Motorists are still advised to avoid the area if possible.

Four engines from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance after receiving reports of the collision at 10.30am.
A spokeswoman said the crash involved and HGV and a box can and crews worked to rescue a casualty from one of the vehicles.
