Not only a good walk, but lovely views to go with it Whitlingham broads is a popular destination for walkers, runners, cyclists and more. With a path stretching around the exterior of the broad that lasts a good distance for everyone.
The broad has many activities for young children, including feeding the ducks or geese and water sports they can get involved in, as well as an ice cream truck midway through the walk! There are also water sports which vary between the different ages, this includes hiring a paddle board, sailing and windsurfing. At the activity centre there is friendly and approachable staff that answer any questions or worries you have and are great with children.
If the water activities don’t appeal to some people it doesn’t matter, because the scenic walk around the broad brings beautiful views and wildlife for people to look at. Involving a look-out point that is on the edge of the water that people can use to look out for different birds or wildlife in or on the water. This is accessible to people with disabilities which helps to include everyone in the fun. The path around the broad sometimes splits off and you can see the river on the other side, but it does eventually come back to the path, which is good for people who might want to take a different route if they have walked around this area a few times. There is also the opportunity to leave the path from the broad and walk through some wooded or field areas. However, this is next to the road and sometimes requires walking on the road, although it isn’t busy it might not be as relaxing as walking round the main path.
At the end or beginning of the walk there is a cafe which serves hot or cold drinks along with food. This is a nice refreshment after a walk or getting ready for a walk and is a nice place for people to wind down. The grass area next to the water is a nice area for people to take a drink and sit down during the sunny weather while looking over the water. It is also a good place to watch people participate in water sports.
