Signs have appeared protesting the arrest of a beloved Coronation Street character who has been charged with murder in a new storyline.
In the beloved ITV soap, Roy Cropper was recently arrested and charged with the murder of Weatherfield teen Lauren Bolton, having been the last person to see her alive before she disappeared.
The storyline has shocked many fans of the show with many claiming Roy is innocent including actor David Neilson, who has played the character since 1995.
When asked if Roy really did commit the crime on This Morning, Mr Neilson said: "He never thought for one minute it would come to this, he truly felt that if he simply answered everything honestly it would all be okay, and he was naive to assume that being innocent meant that he would be seen to be innocent."

Molly's Carpets in Bury St Edmunds has gone the extra mile by putting up a sign in the shop window saying: "Roy is innocent. Save the Weatherfield one."
Howard Jones, the business owner, said it was a way to draw people into the shop.
"It's done its bit," he said. "A lot of people have looked at it and commented on it."
Mr Jones even shared photos of the signs in the Facebook group Free Roy Cropper.
He plans to keep the signs up until Roy Cropper is proven innocent - or even guilty - in the show.
