Farmers from across Suffolk and Norfolk will be gathering later this month to hear about how some of the region's best-performing businesses are managing to weather a tough time for the industry.
The evening event - organised jointly by the National Farmers' Union (NFU) and regional accountants Lovewell Blake - is the second of 2024 and will be held at Halesworth Golf Club.
The audience will hear from farming experts Jason Cantrill and Katie Crawford of Ceres Rural who will be looking back at the performance of predominately arable farming businesses over the past three years.
They will examine the highs and lows, and what makes the best performing businesses more resilient.
They will also discuss the performance of pigs and poultry, which have an important influence on local demand for grain in East Anglia.
The presentation - entitled Riding The Storm - will also look forward to harvest 2024 as they consider the opportunities available to farming businesses - including grant opportunities.
Jason, a chartered surveyor, is a partner at Ceres Rural.
He specialises in the management of farms, the formation of contract farming and joint venture agreements, and provides strategic advice to a range of farming businesses including advising on compulsory purchase schemes and landlord and tenant matters.
Katie is an associate with the business and has a keen interest in the natural environment, combining her interests in regenerative farming systems with her advisory role.
She specialises in Environmental Stewardship, including the preparation and management of applications and agreements.
Lovewell Blake agricultural partner Ryan Lincoln will be chairing the event.
“Anyone who is involved in agriculture will know that resilience is a quality which is always required," he said.
"Most farmers will identify with the concept of ‘riding the storm’, and I am sure that Jason and Katie’s presentation will resonate with every farmer in our region."
