A prominent restaurant chain could be coming to a west Suffolk town after a licensing application was submitted.
Loungers UK Limited has lodged proposals for the former Barclays bank building in Newmarket High Street to West Suffolk Council.
The chain currently operates 230 restaurants across the country through two brands, The Lounges and The Cosy Clubs, and has restaurants in Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury, as well as Cosy Club in Ipswich.
Plans put forward to the council are for a food-led café and bar, which could be part of its Lounge sites.
Documents show the restaurant could be open from 8am to 12.30am each day.

Barclays shut its doors in Newmarket in June 2023 after the banking giant said there was a decline in people regularly using the branch.
